About Klean Graphene

Klean Graphene is the nanocarbon identity of Klean Industries, which produces graphene-like structures, carbon nanotubes and fullerenes from waste tires and scrap rubber through its Klean Carbon arm.

The company exists because of a mismatch. Advanced carbon markets want tonnage, consistency and a credible cost base. Waste tire and scrap rubber markets want a destination that is better than landfill or fuel substitution. Klean built the process chain that connects the two, and Klean Graphene is where that chain ends up: nanocarbons produced from a waste feedstock.

Where the capability came from

Mitsubishi Corporation collaborated with Klean on the carbonisation step and on fullerene synthesis and purification, beginning in the late 1980s and continuing through the 1990s. That partnership produced the two things that are hardest to buy in this field: a carbonisation process that behaves predictably, and separation and purification know-how good enough to deliver defined fullerene grades.

Pilot, then plant

A joint pilot facility in Japan started up in 2000 producing 0.4 tonnes per annum. It was subsequently scaled to process approximately 2,500,000 used tires — some 20,000 tonnes of rubber per year. Full-scale output stands at roughly 7,000 tonnes per annum of nano-recovered carbon black and 700 tonnes per annum of carbon nanotubes, with CNTs grown by Chemical Vapour Deposition in both semiconducting and metallic single-walled form.

What is actually on offer

The product set covers graphene-like carbon structures, single-walled carbon nanotubes, and a fullerene range spanning a nano mix of about 60% C60x and 25% C70x with higher-order fullerenes making up the balance, the high-purity Nanom purple C60 grade, the exclusive Nano black grade, and custom fullerene derivatives.

How Klean works with customers

Klean Industries is an engineering company first, which shapes how these materials are sold. Feasibility work, process design and turn-key project delivery sit alongside material supply, so a customer can buy a grade, a study, or an entire production facility. Detailed specifications and commercial terms follow a conversation about the application — not a download button.

Work with a nanocarbon producer that also builds the plants

Klean Graphene combines three decades of carbonisation and fullerene purification development with industrial-scale production and project engineering.
